Sapele

Sapele (entrandrophragma cyclindricum) is heavier and harder than Honduras and African Mahogany. Sapele invariably contains roey or parallel grain which is often broken and interspersed. Sapele has numerous kinds of figures such as quilted, striped, and wavy. The color is similar to African mahogany and its strength is comparable to oak. Sapele exhibits a salmon-like color when cut and turns medium to dark red-brown as it ages.
