Western Red cedar guitar tops

Western Red cedar (thuja plicata) is popular with both classical and steel string makers. It has gained in popularity over the past two decades and remains a popular soundboard choice. It is liked for its warm colors which can range from pinkish red to chocolate brown and pronounced cross silking. Western Red cedar produces a warm and rich tone with bright trebles and excellent note clarity.
