Western Red Cedar

Western Red cedar (thuja plicata) is popular with both classical and steel string makers. It has gained in popularity over the past two decades and remains a popular soundboard. It is liked for its warm colors which can range from pinkish red to chocolate brown and pronounced cross silking. Western Red cedar produces a warm and rich tone with bright trebles and excellent note clarity.
