Macassar ebony

Macassar ebony (diospyros celebica) comes from the Celebes and Sulawesi Islands in Eastern Indonesia. It is a very strong, heavy hardwood and visually striking; the predominant color is almost always black with interspersed bands of grey-brown, yellow-brown or pale-brown. It has a fine even texture, glues easily and is not a challenge to bend.  Since it's a dense wood, Macassar ebony is an ideal choice for backs and sides. Pair it with a Red spruce top and you'll definitely turn heads.
